We managed to get both Magi and Cinders to work nicely on Mac, but it wasn't without problems. As I wrote - we had to work out all the critical issues with YoYo Games to get it to a workable state, and it took a while.

As for transparency, you have to work it like you would in GM7. Through alpha masks or external assets (which you should use anyway). It's not as convenient as GM8, but at least it works.

I was cracking up reading your experiences with GM for Mac. I was so excited when it was released, ready to ditch bootcamp and build my games directly on my desktop, and then I used it.

It was so shockingly broken... none of the file reading/writing functions were functioning properly and you would have to be insane to even attempt to use a FONT and draw text... Now it might as well be deprecated, without support for transparency and all the other GM8 features. Such a waste.

I'm impressed that you guys managed to get Magi working without any problems.

You didn't mention GM' worst problem which is screen tearing. You must be working at yoyogames or sthg.

Still, your comment makes sense, and we can always improve the game, even at this point ;).

It's already a little less pronounced in the actual game than on this screenie, but I'll try to make it a bit more subtle.

Oh...So I somehow randomly landed on this page and left a lengthy comment...and then saw the date on this post and that you've already pre-released. I feel a little sheepish.

I like the idea of the flowers indicating that it was based from an earlier decision. I do think that you may want different color variations for that branch though. It's very bright and it pulls my eyes away from the character and forces me to look at that bright orange. I personally think it would be better in a more subtle color depending on the rest of the scenery/scene if it's going to be a continuing element throughout the game. BUT all critiques are only just that, so take what you think is useful and leave what you think isn't.
